- Endangered Animals Care Nothing For Our Good Intentions
Whether it be when seeking to help people or help animals, often good feelings get in they way of logic and reason that produce real results. There is no better illustration for this scenario than the recent news of Kenya’s destruction of over 100 tonnes of ivory. It was a feel-good story for any animal lover, especially those who care deeply about the preservation of endangered elephants and rhinos. After all, the Kenyan government was sending a strong message to the world that these animals are far more important than money. They were burning a massive amount of ivory that could be sold for hundreds of millions of dollars. There’s just one massive problem – it won’t do any real good and will more than likely do a fair deal of harm.
